Import routes

Already have a route? RoadTripDesk can bring route points from several common formats into a new trip so you can continue planning instead of typing every stop again.

Import GPX routes

GPX is widely used by mapping, GPS and travel tools. RoadTripDesk can read route points from compatible GPX files and turn them into ordered trip stops.

Import KML routes

KML files can contain geographic points created by mapping tools. Compatible point data can be imported and added to the RoadTripDesk stop list.

Import CSV route points

CSV is useful when you already have coordinates in a spreadsheet or exported dataset. RoadTripDesk accepts common delimiters and coordinate column names such as latitude/lat and longitude/lon/lng, with optional fields including name, address, notes and order.

Import Microsoft Streets & Trips EST files

RoadTripDesk includes a native importer for compatible Streets & Trips journey files. Legacy EST files can vary significantly, but the importer can recover route points from some very old trips without requiring the original Windows application.

Plan limits still apply to imports

Imported stops follow the same plan limits as stops added manually. RoadTripDesk checks the complete import before saving it. If the trip is too large for the current plan, the import is rejected rather than silently importing only the first part of the route.

Import the route, then make it a trip

An imported file is a starting point. Once the stops are in RoadTripDesk, add durations, planned overnights, notes and travel days, then build the itinerary around the places you imported.
